Finn Callan I still love your work, thank you. Favorite track: Holding.

Charles Quinn Piano rather than guitar predominates here, but Liz Harris's instinct for melodic hooks and her supernatural sense of texture are intact. Incomparable abstract pop. Favorite track: Holding.

dicenymphe I adore this album immensely. My partner showed me Dragging a Dead Deer Uphill, and I fell in love with Grouper immediately. But this one takes the cake every time for me. It's so calming, and allows me to have a perfect creative flow for my ink and oil paintings. It's simply beautiful. Favorite track: Lighthouse.

cloudsmusic Ruins is my favourite album of Liz. This albums changes my vision of love and lifeways, even makes me philosofates about how I feel with myself, if I really show what I am or simply put a mask on me and show another personality because the world just don't apreciatte the way I am and it's a constant dispute about be me or make the society happy for not feeling alone. All of this and more means Ruins to me. Favorite track: Clearing.
Demonnium

Demonnium This album means a lot to me, it is supposed to summarize Liz Harris's inner feelings of love and betrayal, the album is just purely simple and reflects all the emotions of the artist and that's what any album should be and what artists should do with their music.

very calm and ethereal, just a piano and a lovely voice. Favorite track: Lighthouse.

Archtype This is the album that changed everything about how I saw music. Such a stripped down and powerful dismantling of the ego. A chance to breath in real emotion, a time to reflect. Favorite track: Holding.

about

Ruins was made in Aljezur, Portugal in 2011 on a residency set up by Galeria Zé dos Bois. I recorded everything there except the last song, which I did at mother's house in 2004. Iʼm still surprised by what I wound up with. It was the first time Iʼd sat still for a few years; processed a lot of political anger and emotional garbage. Recorded pretty simply, with a portable 4-track ,Sony stereo mic and an upright piano. When I wasnʼt recording songs I was hiking several miles to the beach. The path wound
through the ruins of several old estates and a small village.

The album is a document. A nod to that daily walk. Failed structures. Living in the remains of love. I left the songs the way they came (microwave beep from when power went out after a storm); I hope that the album bears some resemblance to the place that I was in.
